THE REASON FOR STRETCH MARKS AND WHAT YOU CAN DO ABOUT THEM

by Abigail McKenzee

A lot of people have stretch marks and don't know why. In the beginning they are light purple or red marks; more than 70% of women get them around the breasts and belly-button when being pregnant. Actually, any person can get them, even slim, young people. They usually appear where the body stores more fat. The affected area feels soft to the touch and the stretch mark itself feels like a dent in the skin. Those indentations can get more profoundand longer if the skin is stretched more. Even though these marks may become lighter with time, the indentations and change of color never go away.

How Do Stretch Marks Form

The main reason is obviously stretching, but it's not the only cause. The problem is the skin support within the dermis, the elastic middle layer of the skin. The skin's firmity when growing is given by fibroblasts which form collagen and elastin fibers. Cortisol, a type of glucocorticoid hormone is vital for our body as they maintain many important functions, but they are also responsible for stretch marks because they stop the fibroblasts from forming collagen and elastin fibers.

Lack of skin supportive materials, together with stretching, tears the epidermis (outer skin layer) AND dermis which leads to stretch marks. A stretch mark is a type of scar tissue, meaning the skin is destroyed and can't be replaced again by our body. We should be glad this natural healing system exists, but unfortunately scar tissues are inferior to original, healthy skin. And scar removal is difficult and often involves surgery.

Pregnant Women Are More Apt To Get Them

It's common knowledge that pregnant women at times go crazy over nothing. This is due to their hormones going wild. The high hormone level and the fast growing breasts and belly cause stretch marks. Scientists also associate cellulite formation to hormonal inbalances. Scientific studies have so far not found the perfect cure for stretch marks once they have formed. But they can be reduced and prevented by using moisturizing cream and exfoliation of the skin, for instance with a skin brush after taking a bath.

How To Treat Those Red Marks

Is it actually possible to really diminsh those stretch marks? Like cellulite treatment or anticellulite creams, stretch mark treatment consists of treating the symptoms, the real reason cannot be eradicated. Moisturizing creams against stretch marks can be compared with cellulite creams; they do not help in every case. Some people, probably due to their hormonal condition, are just more apt to get stretch marks.

In TV reality shows you can often see people who undergo surgery to get back their perfect looks. Lasering, injections, tummy tuck surgery - isn't it terribly unnatural? It's more advisable to try out natural skin care lotions with special ingredients to regenerate skin cells and give the skin its elasticity back. They do not cost a lot, show no side effects and above all do not hurt.

Stretch marks are formed when fibroblasts can't work properly and skin vitality is not good. BIOBODYSLIM contains the extraordinary Helix Aspersa Muller serum which boosts regeneration of skin cells and prevents scar formation and smoothes the skin. It is perfectly suitable for stretch marks, as well as a cellulite treatment or acne scars treatment.
