Laser Resurfacing

Laser resurfacing is the most modern type of acne treatment available to reduce acne scars or blemishes. It involves shooting laser beams of light at irregular skin patches. It is a very precise way of removing skin layer by layer.

If you have scars from acne, you may be a good candidate for laser skin resurfacing. If you have active acne, this may not be the route for you.

There are two main types of lasers used for laser resurfacing – carbon dioxide and erbium. Both of these lasers remove damaged skin cells and limit the amount of heat absorbed by the skin.

Carbon dioxide (Co2) resurfacing can be used, amongst over things, to remove scars, birth marks and cancerous cells. It uses continuous light beams to remove layers of skin with very little heat damage. Recovery time takes up to 2 weeks.

Erbium laser resurfacing removes deep lines and wrinkles and smooths surrounding tissues. Recovery time is about 1 week.

You should always seek out surgeons with good credentials and experience for peace of mind if you consider this this option.
