Stress and Pimples

Stress and Pimples

Although it isn't scientifically proven that stress and pimples are related, recent statistics show that adult acne is on the increase. At least half of women and a quarter of men will get adult acne at some point in their lives and we are living in more stressful times so perhaps stress could be a factor causing acne.

Our work places have become more stressful and our social lives tend to be more hectic. Stress levels affect the hormone balance and this, in turn, can cause toxins which cause acne. Sounds like a bit of vicious circle doesn't it?

Hormones running wild and peer pressure in teenage years can be stressful so that can be yet another way to support the theory that stress is a causative factor for acne.

If you think that your stress and pimples might be related, have a look at what is causing your stress and try to reduce your stress levels before treating your acne.
