What Is A Boil

What is a boil? A boil is a kind of abscess. It starts as a tender area that is discolored, usually red and with time this becomes hard. This is the first stage.

Soon afterwards, the boil will become soft at the center. The reason for this is the body's own self-defense system sending white blood cells to the area to fight infection. These white blood cells will form into pus and create a softer outer head.

To treat a boil you can use one of many over the counter treatments. Or you can use heat preparations at home without buying anything . Doctors will also lance a boil. Also antibiotics can be used to fight the infection, although antibiotics do find it hard to enter the hardened walls of an abscess. Still, your doctor may prescribe them for you.
