Benzoyl Peroxide

Benzoyl Peroxide

Benzoyl peroxide skin products are for mild to moderate acne. There are many brands available like Clearasil, but cheaper generic products are also on the market.

If you have eczema, asthma, sunburn, are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should consult your doctor before embarking on any treatment that has benzoyl peroxide as an active ingredient.

You can get benzoyl peroxide treatments in various forms: cream, gel, lotion, shaving cream, face mask and cleansing bar. As you can see, they are for external use only. So, avoid using it near the month, up the nose, near the eyes and other sensitive areas.

Some other acne treatments like Accutane, clindamycin, salicylic acid or sulfur may interact with benzoyl peroxide so always get advice if you are planning on using more then one acne treatment.

Some side effects may include mild burning or stinging and irritated skin. If these symptoms get worse the more you use the preparation, then consult your doctor.

Be sure to visit the Acne Treatment Results page to review any feedback left by others who have used Benzoyl Peroxide.
